Clearing Solar Panels After a Snow Storm

After arctic winter storms I remove clinging snow with a homemade rope and pulley system. This keeps weight off the solar panels and allows the panels to generate electricity (but not much power right now in December). Fairbanks, Alaska. Enjoy.

A research rocket was launched into the Northern Lights tonight (Nov. 8, 2023 just after midnight) from the Poker Flat Research Range north of Fairbanks, Alaska. All in one video: the Aurora Borealis, the Big Dipper, and a rocket launch! This was the first time I photographed a rocket launch, and experiencing a countdown was truly exciting. Enjoy.

I’m glad for this video - the sun arcs east to west - flat, level over a flat plane - never with height over a supposed globe. Thanks for this. 😊

Videos like this are shit. I want to know where on the horizon did the sun set. Our sky changed in 2010; the way our sky is now is of 2013. Astronomically speaking, this has been our new normal. Our sun no longer makes its circuit right above our heads. It used to do that during the summer months. Astronomically, this has been canceled.

As a Floridian, the cold, snow, and ice would definitely get to me. But the lack of sunlight would be the nail in the coffin. It’s very rare we have days without at least 6 hours or so of some day light, besides when we have a hurricane or a dreary overcast winter day maybe once or twice a winter.

Thanks for the video. It's still strange the little sunlight Alaska gets at that time of the year is being blocked by a thick layer of haze, that's not natural clouds and always seem to rise when the Sun rises. The earth and everything on it needs sunlight and climate change/global warming is a lie. Earth has been through billions of years and Will still be here long after we're gone. Humans will only be aloud to mess around for so long before earth cleanses itself

But it does though because it’s still very much so light out when it is out and it’s still light out for over an hour before after that because of Civil Twilight, and then it’s not dark until (later into Nautical Twilight and closer to) Nautical Dusk. But there’s actually more light on average all year round the further away from the equator that you go. It’s just that the amount of time that the geometric center of the sun spends at above 0.00° is equal to how long it’s below 0.00° for.
